Sensory differences can affect children in many different ways. We can have hypersensitivity to different textures, sensitive to sounds, difficulty with attention or our focus, and we can struggle with regulating our emotions.

These challenges can have a serious impact in a child's life. This can make daily tasks and activities overwhelming causing sensory overload and anxiety. There are a lot of sensory tools and strategies to help children with sensory processing disorder and one of the most common and effective options are sensory compression products.

Sensory compression products are clothing that are designed to provide deep pressure and proprioceptive input to a child's body. This can help a child stay regulated. There are so many different kinds of sensory compression tools and clothing available now for children.

Sensory compression sheets are one of the more common sensory compression tools for children who struggle with sensory differences. They are quite similar to regular bedsheets but they have a tighter fit that provides deep pressure to the body while a child sleeps. This deep pressure can help a child's nervous system to be calm. This will improve a child's sleep when they struggle with sensory processing disorder. Sensory compression sheets can be purchased in all bed sizes, with different colors and patterns.

Compression clothing like compression vests, socks shirts and pants are all designed to provide pressure to the body throughout the day. It is a wearable sensory tool. This pressure can help children with sensory differences feel grounded and aware of their body. Compression clothing can improve a child's focus.

Sensory compression clothing are very discreet and can be worn under regular clothing. Compression clothing are a great option for children who may feel self-conscious about using sensory tools at school or around others.

Sensory compression shirts are made with a stretchy tight fabric that provides a child with deep pressure to the body. They can be worn as an under shirt or as a regular shirt too. The pressure can help children with sensory differences feel more calm and focused throughout the day.

Sensory compression can provide comfort and proprioceptive sensory input for children who struggle with sensory overload. The deep pressure can help them feel more regulated and reduce their anxiety or stress.

Deep pressure that compression clothing can help a child tune out distractions and focus easier. Sensory compression products can help children with emotional regulation so they aren't having frequent meltdowns.

It is very important to always consult with your child's pediatrician or occupational therapist before using sensory compression products to be sure that they are appropriate for your child's sensory needs.
