Soft Sensory Friendly Comfortable Dresses For Children
Jeanette Loftus
Getting dressed is part of daily routines for kids but for some children who have sensory processing disorder, it can be a very challenging task. Children with tactile sensory sensitivities often find it difficult to wear clothing because of how it feels on their skin. This can make getting dressed stressful and overwhelming for children and their parents.
Sensory friendly dresses were created to provide comfort for children who struggle with sensory issues so getting dressed is not as challenging for them. Sensory-friendly dresses are made from buttery soft fabrics that are breathable like organic cotton or bamboo. These fabrics are gentle on their sensitive skin and do not cause any discomfort.
Tags on children's clothing can cause a lot of discomfort for kids with sensory issues. Sensory-friendly dresses are tagless to eliminate irritation that is caused by clothing tags rubbing against their skin. Clothing seams can be very uncomfortable for children with sensory processing sensitivities. Sensory friendly dresses are made with flat sensory seams so there are no rough seams that can cause the child any discomfort.
Some children may have different sensory preferences with clothing. Sensory-friendly dresses are usually adjustable with the waistbands, straps and the buttons. Bright colors and busy prints can be too overwhelming for children who have sensory issues. Sensory friendly dresses should be available in calm, muted colors with simple prints. This will help reduce sensory overload and anxiety for the child.
One of the most significant benefits of children wearing sensory-friendly clothes are that they provide a child with sensory processing disorder comfort. The super soft fabrics and being tagless and seamless help a child feel comfortable while wearing a sensory friendly dress.
Some children who have sensory differences may struggle with getting dressed by themselves. Sensory friendly dresses that are adjust able make it easier for a child to dress themselves which promotes independence and boosting their self-esteem. Sensory-friendly dresses are available in many different styles and colors so that children can choose what they would like to wear.
